About Me

Hello! Thanks for checking out my website! My (pen)name is Lily Hargrave, and I write genre-crossing fiction. Usually, there’s romance, and usually, someone‘s queer, and usually, there’s a supernatural element. But I like to mix it up. My first novella, Ghost Story, is a dash of gothic, a bit of poking fun at same, a sprinkle of fantasy, and a good helping of horror, all seasoned with some gay romance.

I have a Masters of English Language Studies, which is only moderately useful as a writer, or for getting a day job. Maybe I should’ve studied accounting instead!

But here I am, making a go at my life-long dream of being a writer. Books have seen me through hard times, have given me laughter and tears, love and hate, have helped me understand the world. And that’s what I want to do, too- offer a few hours of entertainment, of escape, and if someone finds some solace or meaning in my stories, I’ll consider myself well rewarded. (Though earning enough money to pay the bills would be great, too- and help with writing more of those stories.)

(And yes, I’m aware I’m supposed to write all this in third person and list all my accolades- but I don’t have any accolades and writing about yourself in the third person is terribly awkward. And I don’t really fit into that slick, formal world anyway- this is my website, and I’ll do things how I want around here! … Rather like in my writing.)
